West Berkshire company celebrates birthday with social media marketing seminars

Newbury-based digital and social media consultancy’s fifth year

The Media Marketing Company, based in Newbury, is celebrating its fifth year in business by launching a series of social media and digital marketing workshops, aimed at marketers and business owners.

The Media Marketing Company is a London- and Newbury-based, award-winning, boutique Social Marketing and Digital Agency, specialising in social media marketing, analytics and digital campaigns, content creation and outreach, website and tech development.

Founded in 2009, it enables its clients to seamlessly integrate social media, digital PR and marketing into their traditional communications mix, raise their profiles and boost their bottom line, while helping them to win awards along the way.
Founder and MD, Claire Burdett, was the founder of the first WAHM website in the UK in 2003 (FunkyAngel.co.uk), is the author of many books, experienced marketer, award-winning editor and a speaker who frequently gives talks on using social media in business and on how to leverage digital as part of an integrated PR and marketing campaign.

An early digital and social media adopter, Claire found herself repeatedly being asked to provide social media consultancy and realised there was a gap in the market. She comments: “At the time, there were very few agencies specialising in doing digital or social media marketing. This prompted me to take the plunge.”

Since its inception, the company has seen huge changes in the digital marketing landscape. “It’s a big challenge for our clients to stay on top of things,” says Claire. “A recent survey in Marketing Week suggested there’s a massive skills gap in how to make social media work for business. The dynamic nature of marketing means that tools, techniques and technologies are constantly evolving and people can struggle to keep their knowledge and skills up to date, so we devised this series of courses to bridge that gap”, she adds.

The training workshops will be run at Shaw House and will empower attendees to make the most of various social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and maximise their results from their efforts.

Claire sums up: “Participants will go away having mastered new skills, understanding how to utilise the latest technology with step-by-step processes to help implement them effectively. As well as improving performance and results in their current roles, this might also open up more opportunities for them in the competitive job market. The team and I think it’s a great way to celebrate our fifth year.”
